The Head of Department V Prague, July 13, 1943. No. V/Stat.-960/6721/1454/43. Duro des Stoatsfek Iin Reichsprotek In Behmen unò Magten 13.JULI 1943 Mr. State secretary. Subject: First cereal forecast. According to the first grain harvest forecast (estimation on the stalk) compiled by the Central Statistical Office on the basis of the reports of the voluntary rapporteurs on seed levels and harvests carried out at the beginning of July, cereal harvest 1943 is estimated to be about 2 million tonnes or about 150 tonnes lower than in the fairly satisfactory cereal harvest year 1942. The main fruits of the bread (rye and wheat) are expected to be around 1.3 million dz or the same harvest as in the previous year. This yield has been achieved with smaller yields per hectare on a larger plot. In some cases, the yield per unit of area is expected to correspond to the year before= yield for winter rye. In the case of winter wheat, however, the average annual yield per hectare is expected to fall by 1.3 dz compared with the previous year, and for summer wheat by 2 dz. As a result of considerably smaller area yields, barley and oats are expected to be reduced by approx. In the first forecast of cereals, a judgment was also given on the expected harvest of rapeseed and beet. According to this, the area yield is significantly lower than the previous year's result; as a result of the increased yield of 1N5c/443
