P r a g , 2 December 1942. Department V (Economy and Labour) Fiomegangen beles.5 1. 1943 Secret Division V 1 T1-1018/420. ehtabtellungelter V (Economics) -- Report on the development of the external trade of the Protectorate in the 1st half of 1942. 1r0 by E1TS00 1.) General overview. The favourable development of the external trade of the Protectorate has already been established for the past year and has continued in the first six months of 1942, as average exports exceed the average imports by more than 36%: exports January to June 1942 . . . 186.0 million RM Imports January to July 1942 . , . . 136.5 million Rm. However, both imports and exports in the first half of 1942 were smaller than in the two half-years of the previous year; i.e. there has been a certain decline in foreign trade despite rising prices as a result of the further narrowing of sales markets. 2.) Country overview. In the ranking of countries of destination, Slovakia naturally ranks first with 34% of total exports, followed by Romania with 14%, Italy with 8%, Croatia and Hungary with 6% each and Switzerland with 5%, so that total exports to these 6 countries are around 73%. Exports of the protectorate to the south-east, including Turkey, amounted to around 2/3 of total exports to the Scandinavian countries, including Finland, 81/2 %. In the context of total export in 1941, the order was Slovakia (27, Italy (11%), Romania (9%), Bulgaria (8%) and Switzerland (7%). It follows from this that Italy and Romania have exchanged their posts with each other, while Croatia and Üngarn have moved into the number of countries of destination most involved, and it should be noted that in the first six months of this year Slovakia is also at the forefront of the supply countries, accounting for 31% of total imports. By far the largest number of imports, with 7 %, Switzerland and Sweden with 6 % each, make up around 3/4 of the total imports into the Protectorate. 3) Balance of goods.
