FEB. 1944 An 4-Obergruppenführer Staatsminister Fr a n k im H a u s e Subject: Start of work of the Graphische Sammlung in the Rudolfinum As a first step towards the reorganization of Prague's museum system, a graphic collection was established by merging the rich graphic holdings of the Prague museums within the framework of the Bohemian-Mähri- ischen Landesgalerie under the direction of Prof. Dr. S w o b o d a, which was also assigned essential holdings of confiscated art property as Reich loans. Organisational preparatory work is now closed. The most valuable sheets are located outside Prague, protected by air. Use of the remaining stocks will be possible with certain restrictions. In particular, the Graphische Sammlung can already begin with the changing small exhibitions in its own rooms, as they are one of the most important works of each copper engraving cabinet. For the first exhibition, hand drawings by the romantics are planned, around loo leaves of German and some Czech artists, whose connection with German art is clearly clear. I ask that the graphic collection of the Bohemian-Märische Landesgalerie take up its work in this form and that Professor Dr. Swoboda, in the smallest circle of the next departments involved (e.g. Department Iv) and museums, after a few introductory words, open the exhibition "Hand Drawings of the Romantics" on the occasion of the beginning of the work of the Graphische Sammlung.
