&T 246 207 . Czech Library . The Czech Library is a loan library. It comprises about 660,000 volumes. Of these, about 25% are scientific, 10% are musical and the rest are maintenance literature. The library is divided into a central library and 46 branches. In addition, there are 8 youth reading halls. The administration is located at the Central Library. On the order of the Protectorate, the political books and writings on the former Czechoslovakia as well as anti-German and immoral writings are to be eliminated from the library. In general, about 200000 volumes are to come in Pestracht, of which up to now approximately 15000 volumes are covered. This work will be completed in a short time. The forces provided for it in the establishment plan will fall away later and are marked with the kw note. The library administration and edition are divided into the 3 departments 2070 - General Administration, 207l - Textual loan of the literature and 2073 - Exit of contested holdings. The use of the library is a very strong one, in 1940 the central library 24539l and the branches recorded altogether 5l7575 visitors. The youth reading halls were visited in the aforementioned year by 175256 readers; the main part of these visitors belonged to the youth reading rooms at the branches. At the Central Library and at 6 branches - there are special departments for magazines. These were used in 1940 in the whole of 305365 visitors. The use of the loan library is different in the summer and winter months. The summer visit corresponds to about 60 % of the visit in winter. An average of about 80% of the winter demand was assumed when calculating the number of employees.
