For the most kindly granted permission to visit the country seat of Your Excell-ence in Jungfer Breschan, I would like to express my most binding thanks. The residential building, as well as the unusually interesting church, are archival and stylistically absolutely secure buildings of the great architect Johann Santin Aichel (l667 - 1723), about which Your Excellency in the Thieme - Becker's Künstlerlexi- kon under the heading Santini can read a preliminary first compilation of his oeuvre from me. From a historical point of view, the church is the first central building in Bohemia, which uses the complex layouts of the Borromini and Guarini, which were later to play such a crucial role for the Dientzenhofer. It is striking that no proper survey has yet been carried out on such an eminently important building. Apart from the fact that, especially in these times, it is always very reassuring in itself to have precise plans of historically and artistically valuable buildings, a remeasurement of the church would also mean a great service for building research, insofar as a large monograph on Johann Santin Aichel was taken over by me on behalf of the Academy of Sciences in Prague.
