Dr. J.J.Morper nisteramt Heereskriegsrat Prague IV.185.Prague, 9 January 1945 9 JAN. 1945 To the German Minister of State for Bohemia and Moravia Z.H. Mr. Ministrial Director Dr. G i e s s Prag The architects Siblings Miroslav and Vera Chalupniček,for the local monument office (Prof. Dr. Kühn) and for the University(Prof. Dr Swoboda) surveyed and recorded the entire complex of the Castle of Karlstein and the Church and Monastery of Breunau. Yesterday I received a detailed estimate of the survey of the castle and Annenkirche in Jungfer Brezan, which I suggested in a letter to the Minister of State already years ago. I allow myself to present this document. If the Minister of State approves the execution of this task for practical reasons, as well as for scientific and historical reasons, the two architects, who are to be regarded as very fine and extremely conscientious masters of their subject and whose Karlstein plans are among the best architectural projects of the present day, will immediately begin the work in Jungfer Brezan after the completion of the survey work in Breunau Monastery. I may remind you of the general support of my survey proposal: The Annenkirche in Jungfer Brezan is the most important central building of the Bohemian Baroque architecture in development history, because it presents unusually early (l7os!!) Jdeen, who are only twenty years later taken up by Kilian Jgnaz Dientzenhofer and then brought to the highest maturity. In a time of the most terrible cultural barbarity of our dehumanized opponents, any preservation of a German cultural monument in plan and image is a saving act in the literal sense of the word !
