English Translation

11 Prague, 7 February 194o. Dr. Gies, Chief Government Councillor in the House. Betr.:Note "The Czech press greets the noble minister "in the "New Day" of 7.2.l94o". The above-mentioned note is literally taken up sentences from the editorial of "Venkov" of 7 February 1994o. The Czech leaf, which is the most widespread among the Czech rural population, had to deal somewhat more closely with the person of the new Minister of Agriculture for certain reasons (the previous agricultural production battle). The "New Day" took up the utterances of the "Venkov" with the exception of any political wisdom and also provided them with a completely misguided transcription. I immediately asked the "New day" to express itself on the matter. According to the announcement of the main author Wannenmacher (see appendix), the responsibility is to meet the head of the political department S c h m i d t and the editor Dr. Honolka. Wannen macher himself, who is not more than reported as travelling in the imprint of the "New Day" of 7.2.194o, stated that he was actually still absent.
