OS -12- his declaration that this order concerning the supply of the Wehrmacht does not go back to the Reichsnährungsministerium. As he has already stated, he does not distinguish between delivery to the Empire and to the Wermacht. He therefore agreed that in the future it would remain with the previous regulation, according to which the Wehrmacht will only make an advance with grain, meat and fat. t iState Secretary Backe concluded that he largely embraced the wishes of the Protectorate and represented himself with the Reichsmarschall. He must acknowledge that the high achievements of the Protectorate towards the Reich are exemplary. He must admit that the agriculture of the protectorate can already provide the population of the Prötektorate fully in all areas, if less sugar beet and more oil crops were grown. Unfortunately, he cannot make this promise, since the cultivation of sugar beet cannot be reduced from a macroeconomic point of view. However, the consequence of this is that the Reich will continue to have to supply the necessary amount of fat to the protectorate in exchange for sugar.
