Persecutions which Lažnovsky .e.11 16b was completed in Prague. October 14. The "Çeské Slobo" publishes a letter from his former chief editor Karl Laznovský, which he directed on February 7, 1941 to a high-ranking public personal lite, which was made available to the paper by the addressee. The letter reads: "Yours . Well-born! High-ranked Lord! In the last three months, the campaign against the political publicists and writers has become much more intense again. We are flooded with ano=hence attribution of a kind that really hurts one's heart in the thought of what Czechs can scratch everything to a writer who only writes and works according to his most sacred national conscience. This campaign has already gone so far that the women of these writers, their parents and others, receive the same reproach letters. Whole families are bohkotiert, their relatives insulted in. shops and on the street, made ridiculous by lying anecdotes and slandered in the grossest way. My father, an old miner who lives in the countryside, is already almost at the end of his nerve power Before political writing= one must have respect, even if another may not agree with him. Important writers tend almost. always in their moral and intellectual greatness only after years, often too late to be recognized and then celebrated as national heroes. I find this recognition by the broad masses of the people as very urgent, because the spiritual torments of the writers are great, and the constant worries and troubles of their families have a heavy effect on their life and their ability to perform. The "Ceské Slovo" adds a comment in which, among other things, it says: "Our people are told that it is ripe, cultivated and progressive. Today's private letter editor-in-chief Lažnovskýs does not believe that this is the absolute truth. Lažnovský's suffering, as long as he lived, was a lesson to our people and an occasion for thorough research of conscience. N.T. 45.10.41.0.2
