English Translation

VV Prague, 27 December 1943. A u f z e i n u ng __ Consul General Huber as representative of the protection power spoke to me today once again about the English citizen Prince R o h a n who is now in prison in Prague-Pankratz. The prince had had a breakdown in Theresienstadt, because he had - although ill - been accommodated there in an overcrowded mass quarters, on top of that without mattress. Now Rohan was under medical control and had been spent in Pankratz in a single room with materze, if he could use the latter only with special permission. Mr Huber again encouraged the transfer of the sick person to an institution hospital or rather to a camp with other English nationals. Rohan had already been accommodated in such a camp before he had been set free by intervention by a high German officer. The Consul General pointed out that the conviction of an English national for interception of English broadcasts could be taken as the starting point for retortion measures against German citizens detained in England. Mr Huber also told me that, after his information, listening to foreign stations in England would not be prosecuted and punished as a crime. He asked me for parallel statements in the Federal Foreign Office regarding the present case. Finally, contrary to his previous proposals, the Consul-General suggested that the opening of the court procedure in the case of Rohen should not be speeded up in order to clarify the above-mentioned preliminary draft. Before the opening of the judicial procedure, it would be easier to carry out some of the facilitations which he strongly recommends - I have asked Mr. Consul General Huber to confirm his information in writing in the form of a note and have also read to him the above remarks.
