They are responsible for the protection of railway installations as well as the transport goods handed over to the railway and finally the maintenance of the order in the railway area. The members of the guard departments are equipped with 1 gun each, l5 shot ammunition and rubber batons; furthermore, the guard units are assigned service dogs. The guard departments have a total strength of 288 heads. The chief of the civil administration had authorized the arming of the officials (railway and postal officers) authorized by the Czech State with the order of the day of March 2, 1939. The members of the railway watch departments are provided with impersonal weapons passports with the consent of the commander of the police.
