6 the legionaries' associations, in sports terms, cultivated above all the thoughts of the military sports and the training of the armed forces. The dissolution decreed by the German authority has essentially put an end to these aspirations. In order to understand the further development, it is also necessary to mention in this connection the dissolution of the old Czech army as the actual bearer of a Czech defensive idea. Their tradition is today - as will be explained below - taken over and continued by some of the sports associations in more or less illegal form. II. Attempts to reorganize the Czech Federations of Physical Education. Already in March-April of this year, the attempts to re-organize Czech Physical Education began. the idea of liquidating all existing associations and reassembly them in a kind of Czech unity association, a thought that was dropped in this area in view of the great line of German politics. The Czech aspirations for a reorganization essentially came from the ČNs community. The guiding principle here was the collection of all forces with the aim of strengthening nationalization. If the purely purpose associations are concerned, the old organizations remain unchanged. Only in the field of motorsports did all former motorists' organisations join the "National Autöklub" and in the area of aviation by ministerial decree of 22 May 39 the association of all Czech aviation associations in the "national aeroclub" (Česky Národni Aeroklub). Among the more politically oriented educational associations, efforts to unify the ČNS community have been intensified. Thus, in April of this year, the "National Association of Legionaries" was founded, which was now the unitary organization of all earlier associations and associations in this field and was subsequently, as reported, dissolved by the Reichsdeutsche side. -7
