NATIONAL 22 September 19.41 CHARACTERISTICS OF WORKERS Prague I, on... 47 PRESIDENCYING Bergstein 11 To the Secretary of State K.H. F r a n k, P R A g IV.,Czernin-Palais. Dilen of the State Secretary at the Reidhsprotector /0 in Bühmen. No. As chairman of the National Trade Union Centre of Workers, I seek to free Czech trade unions from old political influences and tasks in order to carry out their real mission properly, namely to become the spokesman for the Czech working people on their social and economic issues and concerns. I believe that in this way the trade unions will contribute to the inner calm and order, to the general calming and constant rapprochement of the working people with the ideas of the Reich. In order to fulfil this most important task, it has been and is necessary to take a number of thorough organisational, financial and human measures within the Czech trade union system so far, the purpose of which would be to bring the Czech unions on a sound financial basis, to give them a useful organisational system and to exclude from them personalities who have hitherto been misplaced for personal benefit or who have not understood the importance of the new era and the new order. On the basis of the valuable advice of Mr. Ing. Kösters, the head of the liaison office of the Lord Reichsprotektor to the trade unions in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, I have already taken some measures. However, I must confess that they are often outside the framework of the valid regulations of St. S. B-65 a141
