35 - 2 - and the lack of understanding between the German and Czech peoples, we are obliged to express our infinite thanks to both statesmen who have opened up a new path of peaceful coexistence and blessed cooperation to their nations. Today, again, we solemnly renew the promise that we will not deviate from the guidelines set by the President, Dr. Emil Hácha, through his wise decision for the Czech people for the entire future. Two years of protectorate have shown vividly and convincingly the advantages and advantages of the new rules of state law in all areas of national life. The Czech people have returned to the roots and foundations of their actual national culture. The people have come closer to the precious treasures of cultural creation and to its glorious past, and are optimistic about a new flourishing of its creative powers. This is something we remember especially as workers and employees, to whom these noble fruits of the Czech spirit have been foreign and un-accessible in recent years. In the last two years there has been progress in the social field, which would have appeared earlier as a social illusion. New conditions, above all, have ensured the existence of the working person. Unemployment has disappeared. Hundreds of thousands of good Czech people, who in the previous years have carried on their foreheads the fire-painting-forced misdemeanour, have been re-established in the work process, have regained their human dignity and have become useful and self-confident members of the national community.
