From many considerations and experiences the plan of a publishing enterprise arose with me, which I would like to present to you. I have to catch up on this and briefly discuss the development and work of the people and the Reich publishing house. As you know, the People and Reich publishing company emerged from the border work of activist youth. When, after the year 1933, the questions of the borderland at the same time raised questions of all-German foreign policy, the work of the people and Reich Verlag expanded into a predominantly foreign policy. Here again, the problems of the borders were in the foreground. I should like to remind you in particular of the journalistic literature that the people and the empire published before the return of the East Mark, before the solution of the sudeten German and Czech question and before the resolution of the Polish question. At the moment when the total German solution had been reached in all these areas, however, the journalistic tasks were not done, but had to be carried on even more from the standpoints of the empire. This resulted, among other things, from the Volk und Reich Verlag Prague, which was founded at the request of 4-group leader State Secretary Karl Hermann Frank. In two years of hard work, besides the magazine "Böhmen und Mähren", which has achieved high reputation and with an important edition also a great effect, an extensive book publication emerged.
