The experts appointed by the brewing and malting industry industry concluded that in 1943 the Smichow brewery had 12.17 kg and in 1944 it had 11.88 kg of coal, and the Hollechowitz brewery had 13.55 kg of carbon per hl of beer. Professors Dr.Niethammer (German Technical University) and Dr.Jng. Mischkowsky, on the other hand, calculate at the Holleschowitz brewing plant l0.7 kg, i.e. 4 kg of coal per 1 hl of beer. The difference between these results is explained by the fact that the evaluators employed by the brewing and malting industries are unable to assess -which makes them aware of themselves - how the steam supply from the electricity plant affects the Holleschowitz brewery. Dipl.Jng.Rud.Schlenk, who was subsequently employed by this group, has examined this question in detail. He first calculates for the Smichower brewery a coal consumption of ll - 12.4 kg of normal coal per hl/year. The corresponding figures for the Hollescho- witzer brewery are l0.2 - ll.3 kg of standard coal.
