Copy. X THE MINISTER FOR ECONOMY AND WORK PRAG, 11th January 1945. - No. 19/45 g II, RUDOLFS-PLATZ 4 Secret Mr. toon t State Councillor Paul P l e i g e r Berlin. Registered! Betr.: Witkowitzer Bergbau- und Eisenhüttenbewerke. Anlage. Dear Mr. Staatsrat! In recent years I have had to deal more closely with the conditions in the Witkowitz ironworks because of the employment and the wage-setting measures. I have been aware of facts which justify serious concerns for the progress of the production in the southern building and which I therefore do not want to withhold from Yhnen. When we visited Moravian Ostrava together on July 14, 1944, we were already occupied with the southern building in the first place. Since I fully share the view that the complete involvement of Witkowitz ironworks in the production of arms must be carried out quickly and that the southern building in particular must be brought up to speed with the necessary speed, in October 1984 I initiated an in-depth review of the performance of the Witcowitz iron works, in order to be able to take my decision at the same time on the labour requirements at that time. The report by Major Bock, who rightly pointed out, among other things, that the orientation of the production times according to the principle of refavour is too slow. Since I took over the chair of the Armaments Commission for the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia on 1 December 1944, the Witkowitzer Eisenwerke are also directly under my supervision to this extent, so that I now have to place even greater emphasis on continuously observing and driving forward the disintegration. 34030 M on h e 868
