Gekcetäcs P 00400 in Buhmenuao mahcen. Eing.: 23.JAN, 1942 Gruppe Wirtschaft Prague, 22 January 1942 11/1-1500/42 68 Original in addition to 2 annexes Mr. Oberreg.-rat Dr. G i e s in the house after taking note returned with the following statement: The decree of the O.K.W. referred to by Dipl.-Ing. Schmelzer in his letters of 13 and l6.d.M. concerning Deployment of miners to their previous job also refers to workers who have previously worked in the mineral oil or fuel industry, since there the demand for labour is as great as in mining and this industry enjoys the same urgent importance as the mining industry. Dipl.-Ing.Schmelzer is indeed Bergdipl.-Ing-, after his exam m.W. But only two years practically worked on a small ore mine in the mining industry and then moved as a technical manager to the fuel industry, where he then worked for several years. In all his submissions Dipl-Ing.Schmelzer asks to be used as usefully as possible again and again. Such a use is practically impossible in the protectorate, since large synthesis fuel plants do not exist in the Protectorate and in mining all authoritative posts are set with reliable Germans. On the other hand, in the Old Kingdom, numerous fuel abbreviations are in the process of starting, and in construction. As I know, there is a huge need for gentlemen with practical experience in such plants. I therefore propose that the mineral oil department of the Reichswirtschaftsministerium z.Hd. by director Fischer, Berlin W 8, Behrenstr.43, to draw Mr. Schmelzer's attention, stating his address, and to bring him to work in such a plant in the Old Kingdom. Should, for reasons not known to me, be given particular importance to using Mr. Melzer in the Protectorate, then only the way through the arms inspection remains. In general, however, it should be borne in mind that Mr. Schmelzer is not powerful in the Czech language and that the previous four oil refineries, as the representative of the Reich's protector for the petroleum industry has confirmed to me on request, already have German liaison officers for the armament inspection, defense department and the commissioner of the Imperial Protector for the mineral oil industry.
