:9 Franz Schmelzer,Dipl.-Berging. in October 1942. L e b e n s l a u f ! I was born as a 7th child(of a total of eight children) of one's parents on 2 August 1904 in Elbogen near Karlovy Vary. I attended the Volks-und Oberrealschule of my home town. After one year of mining practice in the various mining companies, I studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg from November 1924, where I took my diploma exam in Easter 1930. As a diploma thesis, I was recognized as a prize assignment advertised and edited by the Bergkademie Freeberg. I took my first job as an assistant at the State Lignite Research Institute of the Bergakademie Freiberg, in the period from Oct.20, 1930 to Sept.10, 1932.A dissertation on "Brown coal coke as an active surface catalyst for tar splitting"I could not finish because I had to leave my position as a National Socialist and then "foreigner" in Saxony and the country itself. Since I could not go to the Czechoslo-Wakei for state political reasons, I was recommended by the Saxon parliament faction of the NSDAP to Thuringia, which had already been governed by the National Socialist regime in 1932, after Weimar.I was therefore 14 months without a position and continued to operate my guarantee from Weimar by the party, so that I thereby received the Reichs-German citizenship on 1 April 1934. On 1.11.1933 I was reinstated by the Saxon state government in the working process and was active until 30.6.1936 in the erecting Saxon ore mining industry. From August 17, 1936 to July 15, 1941, I worked at the Sächsische Werke-Hv.Dresden stock corporation. At the beginning as an operating assistant, as an operational assistant and finally as a plant manager of the Grosschwelanlage-Bkw Böhlen and its subsidiary companies with a well-known performance-enhancing success.I gave up my position and came to the Wehrmacht on August 21, 1941.
