Mr. Dipl.-Bergingenieur Franz S c h m e l z e F , born on 2 August 1904 in Elbogen near Karlovy Vary,stand from 17 August 1936 until 15 July 1941 in the service of our company. He was hired as a plant engineer for the Großschwelanlage (System-Lurgde) and its auxiliary plants (coking ageing, coke preparation, washing and medium oil distillation, tank plant) of our lignite and large-scale power plant Böhlen and on 1 July 1938 appointed as an operating assistant. From June 1, 1939 to June 30, 1940, he was transferred to our Braunkohlen- und Großkraftwerk Hirschfelde (near Zittau) to work in the new seewel plant and high-pressure gas plant to be opened there. As a special task, Mr. Dipl.-Ing.Schmelzer was entrusted with the commissioning of the grinding drying plant (ring roller briquette factory) for the production of a hard coke. On 1 July 1940, Mr. Dipl.-Ing.Schmelzer was again appointed to Böhlen, where he took over the Grosschwelanlage with its secondary plants as plant manager. He has performed his own tasks during his five years of activity to our full satisfaction. His rich practical experience and knowledge enabled him, especially during his business management, to improve his performance.
