42- The NG district authorities of Taus and Wolin tried to establish a so-called "cultural service of the NG" which should be a control body for the entire cultural life of the district concerned and later the Ng to ensure the top management over the entire association and popular life. However, with the associations themselves, the NG encountered little understanding with these efforts to intervene. For the time being, it has only achieved the promise that the clubs will announce their events to the Ng district management. In the district of Pilsen, too, the NG has recently endeavoured to advance its influence in the most diverse areas of Czech public life, such as cultural work, community affairs, sport, etc. Arbitration courts were set up at the NG district secretariat in Klattau to settle the frequent disputes between Czech farmers by amicable means, but the establishment is already being distrusted by the population because the first cases were allegedly decided in favour of agricultural party members. The collections of "National Assistance" for the winter period 1940/41 can now be considered as complete, but the overall result is not yet available. It has generally been observed that it is below the previous year's results. Among the Czech population, but above all among businessmen and entrepreneurs, there has been a marked decline in joy, partly due to the collecting activity for the KWHW, for which many Czech businessmen, in order not to lose the large orders of German companies and authorities, have spooked. It can also be assumed that the decline in the enthusiasm of the masses of the Czech people was caused by the low level of support of the "National Aid". In smaller places, where leading Czechs could carry out a moral Druçk on the donors, or where free-willed fees in dance entertainment etc. In Pilsen itself, the results of individual collections were about 34% lower than in the previous year. In general, the activities of the "Nationale Hilfe" last winter were concentrated on clothing and feeding.
