Betr: Tagespricht Nr. 222/41 1.) General mood. Among the Czech population, there is still a great fear in the background of all the discussions relating to the appointment of 4-O'Gruf. Heydrich. This fear is constantly growing due to the constant announcements about the imposition of new death sentences. Above all, the large number of enforced death sentences issued yesterday evening by Czechs from Prague, Brno and Laun has caused a great deal of horror in large circles, especially the intelligence, and highlighted the real seriousness of the situation. On the other hand, only the death sentences against several Prague Jews were welcomed. In the same way as the fear, however, there is a certain degree of reassurance among many Czechs that the local Oberlandrat district has not yet been affected by the state of emergency. It pointed out that the Pilsner population, although Pilsen was a city of work, had so far held back from all unconsidered acts that had led to the restriction of personal freedom, as in the other Oberlandrat districts. It is generally assumed that the protection system would be dissolved and that a new one would not be appointed at all in the future. The Czechs, who have been sentenced to death, are often referred to as the first victims of the Deputy Reich Protector and are, as such, very pitiful.
