58 St.M. IV M - 63 z/44. Prague, 29 July 1944. 1.) PS: To Mr. Staatsrat Director General Pleiger, Berlin, Telex: Berlin l287 (Göring-Stahl). Dear party comrade Pleiger ! I confirm receipt of your telex from 28.7. d.Js. I have to contradict his content on various points: What the person of Dr. Guido Schmidt first comes up with was the question of his involvement at the Witkowitz ironworks in the Prague meeting of 13 July. In the light of the serious accusations you have made against Director-General Kuchinka, it was primarily necessary to speed up the examination of the justification of these preliminary claims and, if necessary, to immediately establish abhiife in the interests of the armaments industry. For the time being, the question of the appointment of administrators did not appear to be important, since the administrator of the enemy has no influence on the management of the work, and therefore would not be able to eliminate any maladministration in the field of war production. I therefore have the problem during the discussion. In this connection, I have also stated that I should like to ask in every case for my discharge to be granted to a Member of the European Parliament, who is not a member of the Committee on Budgets.
