Dr.Jo/Ge Tgb.No. 755/44 g 11. APR. 1944 Secret To the German Minister of the State for Böhmen and Moravia SS-Obergruppenführer K.H. Fr a n k in Prague. Subject : Witkowitzer Werke. Reference : Ongoing reporting, last report of 7.III.1944. Dear Minister of State ! After the visit of the Council of State Pleiger on 23 and 24 March 1944 in Witkowitz, the former Austrian minister, Guido Sc h m i d t, came to my office and explained to me that he would shortly take over the position of administrator of the works of Witcowitz in the post of State Council Pleiger. He would therefore take up his permanent residence in Withkowitz. He explained, among other things, that he was not a member of the party, but because of his merits from the time when he was Foreign Minister of the Schuschnigg government, he received special recognition from the leader and from the Lord Reichsmarschal and the express permission to become accordingly active in the economic context. If he were to be prepared to do so, he would be forced to rely on this instruction of the Fuhrer. The resistance against a restless and unreserved integration of the works of Witkowitz into the Hermann Göring works is not entirely understandable to him, since at the latest at the end of the war all obstacles to the Council of State will fall to Pleiger and he will carry out the complete integration of Witzkowitz without hindrance by means of administrative measures.
