114 Prague, 20.6.1944. Ministe 21.JUNI1944 Betr.: Witkowitzer Bergbau- und Eisenhüttenbewerkschaft, Moravian-Ostrava. 1. V e r m e r k Am l0.6.l1944 there was a debate between Dr. Guido Schmidt and General Director Kuchinka in Witcowitz, where Schmidt developed his plans for the first time in complete openness. Dr. Guido Schmidt rejects a division of work between himself and Kuchinka in such a way that he reserves all departments except the technical ones, so that Director General Kuchin Ka is in practice strictly opposed to the rank of technical adjudicator. The syndicus of the Eisenwerk Witkowitz, the board member Dr.Leopold Nowak, was quoted on 12.6.1944 as the head of Hermann Göringwerke in Berlin and was compared to a committee of board members of the HGW, among others the councillor Meinberg, Dr. Guido Sehmidt and Dr. Delius. Dr. Nowak commented about this discussion that he had been approached with open enmity and had tried in the most eloquent way to determine alleged misconduct and other serious misconceptions of the management of the Witkowitz ironworks. As a witness to the alleged large-scale foreign exchange shift of the ironworks in Budapest, the former head of the Continental Prague, Preinhalter, had been held ready. However, his statements had been plain lies. In reality, this had been about moves by the lords of the Reichswerke themselves. He, Dr. Nowak, had been able to vide all attacks according to his opinion. Dr. Nowak, after this Berlin meeting, expressed himself very bitterly about the evil way in which the HGW were trying to exert an ever-increasing influence in Witkowitz. He then added that the position of Director-General Kuchinkas had obviously become somewhat stronger again after Minister Bertsch allegedly supported him. Also, after Dr. Nowak had given him clarifications, Secretary-General Krohn would make absolutely the ironworks.
