Subject: Witkowitzer Werke- on-going reporting.7 On 3.6.1944 Minister Guido Schmidt, former Minister of State, appeared with the Oberlandrat and reported on his joint talk with the Meinberg State Councillor to the German State Minister in Prague. He explained that he had been received very kindly by the Minister of State, that he was informed that he would be in touch with the Oberlandrat in Moravian Ostrava and that he and the Council of State Meinberg were convinced that the wishes of the HGW Group in the matter of Witkowitz will no longer be put in the way of difficulties from Prague. He added that he intended to make various personal changes within the work, as the authority of the former Director General Kuchinka could not have sat down too much. In doing so, he could assure that, in the appointment and use of new executives, he would rely on the existing farm-based employees of Witkowitzer Werke. These statements were taken note of without his own opinion. On 23.6.1944, board member Dr. Nowak der Witkowitzer Werke informed the Oberlandrat that a debate had taken place in Prague between General Director Kuchinka and State Secretary Krohn. He, Dr. Nowak, had the impression since this debate that state secretary Krohn, in agreement with the Minister of State, opposed Guido Schmidt's appeal to the trade union leadership and St. M TVM-63m/448 495/449
