91 3038 St.M. IV M - 63 1/44. Prague, 27 June 1944. General of the Flieger Bodenschatz, Berlin, Reichsflugfahrtministerium. Dear party comrade Bodensatz ! At the telephonic meeting on 26.6.d.Js. you informed me that the Herr Reichsmarschall on the person of the minister a.D. Dr.Schmidt does not take the interest that he should be given a leading position in the Witkowitz mining and iron and steelworks union, but the first leading position would be the task of Dr. Schmidt as administrator with the powers of the works director (representative administrator). On the other hand, I would not be concerned if Schmidt were to become the "supervisor" of the Hermann Göring-Werke at the Witkowitzer union. Schmidt would in this case only perceive the same punctuation that lawyer Dr. Möhring exercised until his renunciation. In my view, there is no reason to extend the rights of the "manager" in the trade union to the detriment of the factory directorate. It is, in fact, urgent at this stage that a change should not take place in the company which, in a way which is recognized by all sides, fully fulfils its tasks in the war economy, but that it should be possible to work there with the greatest possible continuity.
