12 Report on the political development in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia from August 1st to September 1st, 1941. The political development of the protectorate has been marked in recent weeks by a considerable stiffening of the Czech resistance spirit, which is mainly caused by: 1. by a strengthening of the general conviction that Germany must lose the war, 2. by increasing the resentment of the broad mass of the population about the further deterioration of the supply situation. The unexpected toughness of the Bolshevik resistance to the advance of the German Wehrmacht and the other foreign political situation made it clear that the climax of German successes was surpassed and that a German final defeat was inevitable, almost becoming the common good of the Czechs.
