tV IV/2 - Za./Kr Prague, 6 March 1943. Subject: Symphonic poem "My Fatherland" by Friedrich Smetana. The cycle "My Homeland" breaks down into the following symphonic poems: a) Wizhrad b) Vltava c) Scharka' Pause d) From Bohemian corridors and groves e) Tabor f) Blanik. Smetana's symphonic poem "My Fatherland" is a symphonic monument of the founder of modern Czech music and together with the opera "Libusche" the strongest musical expression of Czech fatherland feeling, a work that sings the beauty and fame of Czech Fatherland and its past. In world literature, it was the first major work of the new-on-programmatic music in the right direction. ts remained the only important composition of this kind until today, because only the Czech people have such a great cycle of symphonic poetry that sings people and homeland. Pür den Czechen is the cycle thus also a political poem. The concept and motives of the work undoubtedly show Nordic character. -2-
