Copy. Sh Prague, 15 June 1942. 1/22f Dear Section Chief! From the first moment when I took over the leadership of the Office for People's Enlightenment, which is already being raised to the independent ministry today, I asked you to present to me all the public rallies of the President of the Republic in the concept for inspection, after I am responsible for everything in Bohemia and Moravia of political character. I have allowed myself to call you, as well as Ambassador Chvalkovský, before leaving for Berlin, and I spoke about the fact that the President of State has abstained from any statements made to anyone, but above all in the event that he himself or the government should receive them from the Führer. The President-in-Office of the Council, however, did not confine himself to the original statement of condolences, and I cannot explain it in any way. I myself did not hear what the President of the State said to the Führer. I and the whole Government of the Secretary of State K.H.Fränk have heard the words which the President of the Republic had spoken to the leader and which, in my opinion and also in the opinion of the whole government, were completely incorrect in so far as they concern the statements made by the President about England and the English themselves. The President-in-Office of the Council has, at this historic moment, exceeded his jurisdiction and it may seem that the whole government shares his views.
