t/ - 2 - would ensure the smooth implementation of the tasks assigned to it. Recently, however, the acting head of the teaching and cult group at the Reichsprotektor, Oberschulrat F i t z e k, has endeavoured to ensure that Kraus, as President of the Ministry of Education, is eliminated from the treatment of school administration issues, including the German one. As reliably stated, Fitzek assigned a member of his group, Chief Government Councillor R o t e r m u n d, the task of reshaping the competences of the Presidential Chief Kraus, and Kraus himself expressed that he had only to deal with personnel questions of the Ministry, but that he was not allowed to talk into school administration issues. These views of the Fitzek do not appear to be objectively justified or politically justified. In this tendency, Fitzeck strives to eliminate Kraus and other German trust holders in the Ministry of Education, e.g. the head of Section I, Dr. Fitzek has recently held a discussion on German teaching in Czech schools, with the exception of deuts sher representatives of the Ministry of Education. In November 1941, discussions were held on the question of the district and state school councils, without a man from the ministry being invited. Fitzek tends, in general, to eliminate the politically reliable German representatives in the school ministry whose politically less proven subordinates, e.g. German school inspectors of the Lancesschulrat or the districts are invited to attend basic discussions. Thus, the position of a German president and the German head of the sections in the Ministry of Education can be largely undermined, since they are merely placed by their elimination in front of lower organs.
