48 - 44 - Publishing company in the hands of the state. The sharpest competition for the private school book publishing company is created by the state publishing company. After the overthrow, the state publisher in Prague took over the inheritance of the Austrian k. k. Schulbücher publishing house. In a letter to the Prague committee he was also called by the ministry as "funds and not profit companies, as 48) charitativ-social enterprise." Nevertheless, he now earns this designation only insofar as he grants 25% of his school expenses according to a 49) basic list of poor pupils. Otherwise, however, he has exceeded his powers in every respect. Before the war, the Austrian textbook publishing house was only allowed to produce the textbooks for compulsory schools, i.e. elementary schools and at most civic schools. The state publishing house always broke through this determination by publishing textbooks in all languages of our "national" state for almost all types of schools. The complaints made by the committees and associations in the past to the ministries (Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Education and People's Culture) were unsuccessful. Despite all this, the state publishing house delivered directly to the schools, which, however, was disputed by him and opposed to unfortunate misconduct.
