LE -27- The fees listed under a) and B) may not exceed in their total Kč looo. -. However, this last provision does not seem to apply any more. As mentioned above, this information may be used in and therefore only allow an approximate picture of the amount of the approval fees. Nevertheless, it must be admitted that these fees, which may represent about 2 - 3% of the total cost of a textbook, are quite burdensome, considering that they must be paid for each and every one of them without any changes. In addition, it is necessary to calculate that the Ministry sets the lowest possible prices at the price approval, which the publisher can often not achieve. Thus, the Ministry grants bow prices for elementary school books from Kč 1,2o to 1,4o, for civic school books Kč 1,4o to l,6o and for middle-school books Kč l,5o to 1,7o. In addition, there are the relevant cover prices, which are also prescribed by the Ministry. The fact that no rigid sheet prices are called sid is due to the fact that the different books have to remain a certain margin of manoeuvre. It must also be borne in mind that when taking completely new pictures or plates, higher costs arise, which can then be granted higher prices by the Ministry. Thus, the German books often get a higher price.
