8f ACTIVITY AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE SETRSCR According to § 3 of its Statute, the South-Eastern European Society has the task of "to maintain, consolidate and strengthen German relations with the countries of South-East Europe and to establish bodies, institutes, societies, associations and other institutions which are related to the states of Southeast Europe or which deal with the economic or cultural conditions of these countries. It supports these bodies, promotes their cooperation and advises the authorities.- The company also carries out the tasks entrusted to it by the Reich's Minister of Economic Affairs or other state and party services, and conducts the business of the departments which are affiliated to it." Within the framework of this statute, the company serves the special south-eastern task of the Ostmark. From the company's report on its activities, it is clear that its remit is closely related to all vital questions of the Eastern Mark. The patron of the company is Mr. Reichs-wirtschaftsminister Punk; its president is the Reichsstandhalter of Vienna, Reichsführer Baldur von Schirach. The main figures of the Berlinef central authorities, the Vienna services, the organization of the commercial economy, the Reichsnährstand etc. as well as appointed representatives of cultural life attend their advisory board.
