79 Opinion on the letter of 5 May from the Gauleiter and Reichsstatthalter Konrad Henlein. Subject: Marriage,Established Austria in Prague Dr.Ferdinand M a r e k . I personally spoke to the former Austrian envoy, Dr. Marek, at the Waldstein Palace in Prague on the occasion of an afternoon's tea, and at this tea I presented the principles and principles of the politics of the Sudetenut- ian party and the legal struggle/currently. In this conversation, Dr. Marek tried to give the impression that he understood and approved this policy of Sudeten Germanism. From observations, communications and information from various agencies available to us during our time in Kempf, I am aware that Dr.Marek, as a doyen of the diplomatic corps, had excellent relations with all the embassies and also kept in constant close contact with Beneš. He was also regarded as an infor mator, in particular, of the English and French envoys on all-German matters. Personally, he has never been a betrayal of German things, but both his wife and daughter were regarded as pronounced exponents of anti-rich and anti-Nazi politics. I would not deny him a pension, because otherwise he will probably go to his wives in the Ausland and there can become more dangerous, than on the ground of the empire, where he needs to consume his pension. Heil Hitler ! Prague, May 15, 1939.
