S3 Aational Socialist German Workers' Party Gan Sudetenland District leadership Prague The head of the district, Mr. State Secretary K.H.Frank, Prague II Hotel Esplanade. Our Zeiden: Ing.H/Py. Fhr Zeidhen: Prague, April 29, 1939. Subject: Dear Party comrade, State Secretary Frank! I was very sorry that I could not speak to you personally before your departure. The ban on all German and Czech May rallies in the Protectorate area, which you have added, I have of course taken to my attention, but I must point out the serious adverse consequences of it, for our construction work. In addition to the loss of prestige that I had to suffer through my non-convocation into the Reichstag, there is the fact that a public rally that I convened and discussed with you had to be dropped as a result of a ban that you had specified and, on the occasion of this, it was evident to a number of people from the Protectorate and the authorities that the ban on you was pronounced without even asking me about the crucial sit-down. I was particularly concerned about this, Mr. Under-Secretary of State of Burgsdorff. It was also unpleasant for me that the Czech City Hall Authority informed me of the ban on the possibility of having any idea of it at all. It is not unknown to me, State Secretary Frank, that I have a number of bitter opponents in Prague, which is not least due to the fact that Brnst Kundt, after refusing to build the party under his leadership, had entrusted Pg.Meckel with the leadership of the party and that on his part Fritz Pawellek had already commissioned it with the district leadership of Prague. From these circumstances the opposition of certain rarsons arises. In addition there are party-internal oppositions aug of the earlier times, which you, State Secretary Frank, are well known. It goes without saying that my non-convocation into the Reichstag and the embarrassment with the Maikundgebung in these circles has been accepted with undisguised preude, I personally do not do anything about it, because I know that under all circumstances I will assert myself purely through the objective performance, but it cannot be indifferent to me how the party faces the protectorate authorities, the Reich authorities and the Czech authorities.
