In the months of December and January, a whole series of necessary measures came to the fore, which were partly due to war, partly caused by the exceptionally intensified winter colds. First of all, there was an urgent need to provide short-term accommodation in Prague for a few hundred front students, since the Czech population apparently stood up in a form of silent boycotts against the admission of German students. The military department, which at that time had received a very touching German director in Dr.Glaser, succeeded in mastering all the difficulties. However, it is necessary to use the means to seize certain rooms in larger private apartments for the above-mentioned purpose. On the other hand, the women's home in Smichow has been more widely used for German purposes, but the work of the municipal administrative offices would have been much smoother if the requirements of the academic authorities and the student body had arrived in time and not only had a disproportionately short period of time been available. At the beginning of January, the city was initially unofficially informed that the Reuther welfare institutions would probably be used to a greater extent than before for the re-establishment of hospitals.
