23 transcript. Prague, 12 July 1940. Subject: Arrest of Dr. Klapkas. The arrest of the primator of the city of Prague, who, according to Meldung, maintained with an illegal anti-state group on foreign relations, gives reason to show some of his past. Dr. Klapka was always a devoted supporter of Benezh's policy and a member of his party (Czech nat. socialists). He was also one of the leading shareholders of Beneech-controlled Melantrich's publishing house, which, as a pure party publisher, challenged the policy of the Czech National Socialist Party with its newspapers and publishing works and had a decisive influence on public opinion, as well as numerous anti-German publications. After the departure of the former primator Zenkl, - likewise a Benesh-can and fled from the Bin march of German troops - Klapka should continue the continuity of the Benesch-politics in the town hall at this point. Kapka was the owner of the National Committee for a long time and held the theatre department here. In this role he was able to gain a wet influence on the personnel skills of the Prague Czech.Nat.Theatre. Klapka has repeatedly exploited and abused this influence in a common way. He threatened the young Schuspielerinnen and Tän-zerinnen, who did not want to be his will, with immediate resignation. At that time there were repeatedly painful scenes and performances in the National Theatre between Klapka and any of the dancers. At such an appearance, Klapka was once threatened and shot by a dancer, the 19-year-old daughter of a theatre worker with the Revol- ver. These relations of Klapca with the female forces of the Czech National Theatre were general city talk and can still be confirmed by many eyewitnesses today. As a primator, Klapka made more strenuous efforts in the Czech population, who knew his past.
