WHEN comrades! in the field. As in every year, these days make our hearts beat faster. It is the feast that unites us front soldiers particularly closely with our beautiful German homeland. Our thoughts rush back to our loved ones at home, whose heartfelt commemoration these days especially accompanies us. Who does not remember past Christmas with wife or bride, with parents, siblings and relatives, joyous giving and receiving, children's eyes, from which the glow of light, the fir tree shines. These memories accompany us also on this Christmas, which many of us celebrate for the fifth time away from home. We also remember in particular the comrades with whom we celebrated earlier war Christmases, with whom common memories link us and which the fate has separated from us. Among them is a special greeting to our dead comrades. Comrades! We can look back proudly at the actions of our brave division at the end of this year. Although there have been hard and disparaging days for all of us, the happiness of war seemed to leave us; but the commitment and self-sacrificing dedication of every member of the division has assured us of success. We do not know what the coming year will bring us. But we know that we will do our duty in unwavering fidelity to the leader for Germany until the end of the German victory.
