09 in Prague I, Zeltnergasse 15, which they (Benz and the Kaul) acquired from the Jewess Goldber-Schlosser. On 25.4.1941, a raid was carried out in this auction hall, with 6 Jews there arrested. Following the immediate telephone agreement of the secret state police, he was ordered to appear on 29 April 1941 at the department of the State Police Department in Prague. When this was communicated to Professor Benz, he took action in the presence of the Czech police officers in a most unworthy way for a German. If the secret state police did not take enargic action against B., this happened because B. At the time, the Czechs boycotted the antique trade and, because of this forced situation, were still in favour of dealings with Jews. Furthermore, B. is accused of a rather unscrupulous business venture. Among other things, he is supposed to have "new antique furniture" produced by a tablemaker and then sell it in his auction hall, seeking to influence the supplier with the secret state police through constant threats. (These and other accusations are currently being checked by the secret State police). For example, in a letter presented here in the transcript, he attacks a military service with the following words: "Or is it East-Märkish slurry, because their superiors are East-Marchers? Real sluts are there and I am always surprised that everything is going so well." To this end, it should be noted that even in this case the accusations were made completely without reason. 19761
