V e r m e r k : The appointment of the sculptor Hofmann to the Reichenberg branch of the University Institute of Fine Arts in Prague was already perfect a year ago, when Hofmann withdrew his application. In spite of all the considerations, the request of the head of the Hoehschulinstitut to admit Hofmann into a post in Prague did not take place until the end of July. In accordance with the instructions of the Secretary of State, on 7 August, the officer in charge of the Ministry of Education of the Federal Republic of Germany sent the entire material to the Ministry for Education in Berlin. On 9 September, the competent office in the Reichserzugsministerium informed by telephone the wish of Mr. Staatsekre- tär to see Hofmann's appointment regulated until the beginning of the winter semester. As had already been notified, it was discovered on this occasion that Berlin wanted to send the file back to Prague for clarification of some formal questions.
