The Czechoslovak envoy to Santiago de Chile, Dr. Vladimir Smetans, also handed over his embassy to the German Embassy on 17 March l939 and pledged his cooperation to it. However, already in the days of this suffocation, Smetana ransacked his attitude and stepped on the other side - according to a report of the German Botsanaft in Santiago of 15 March 15. From the second paragraph of the above-mentioned report it is clear that both Kaderabek and Smetana on 1-7 March l939 have deliberately withdrawn their secret archives from handing them over to the German diplomatic missions.
