STATE SECRETARY FOR THE RUSSIAN PROTECTOR IN THINGS AND IN MORAVA, PRAGUE, inv. 445, sig. 109-4/190
English Translation
14a Masters of Directors, Students and Students! I called you in this very special way, because the matter at issue is so extremely national importance that it cannot be delayed. I therefore want to tell you in the face of it and to clarify it in its entirety and in all its consequences. I feel obliged to do so to you, because as Minister of Education I am primarily responsible for the fate of the Czech education. In the last few weeks, there have been more and more appearances in your ranks, as has been found by the authorities of schools and police, which, under normal conditions and in a unique way, may simply be labeled as street pieces, but if they were to continue, they could become a great danger to the Czech nation and its culture. Remember that in several districts of Bohemia and Moravia was declared a protector of martial law. The result was, as was publicly announced by the newspaper, that several hotheads and many people seduced by foreign agitation prepared resistance against Risa and disrupted sabotage the successful work of the Protectorate for the Reich. They were joined by another group of people who harmed the people's nutrition with tricky and chain trade. No state or peace could please similar actions, the less so then the Great German Reich, who is fighting today for his great struggle for Europe's new social, economic and political order. In this struggle, Risa cannot suffer any activity that would disturb her in any way in the back of the fighting army. The negotiations, whether they were committed by Bohemia or Zidu, were punished under martial law by death shot or hanged. These people, whom some of you may look at as martyrs, have damaged very badly national interests at this time, because they did not understand what is happening around them today. The winning empire of the Great German, destroying anticultural Bolshevism on the one hand and, on the other hand, the Western plutocracy, is building a new Europe on new powerful foundations. It is a question if the Czech nation wants to participate in this construction of a new European and to use all the benefits of it for our nation flowing or not. The vast majority of the members of our secondary and higher vocational schools and colleges of professors and pupils perform their school duties calmly, undisturbed and reasonably, and cannot be diverted from them by any agitation. But among you some hot heads, which are recklessly seduced mostly by foreign agitation, think that they are heroes, when they meet at closed doors, if anonymous threatening and defamatory leaves are written, when I make and expand leaflets, at night they secretly meet, the walls are anointed or foreign radio listening. Remember that these young irrational pieces and these illegal acts cannot harm Risa, but they harm our nation and that they can bring him into great danger and cause him immeasurable damage. Let those of you who act like this not intercede in the role of martyrs, determined to go to prison or even to lay down your life; that is not the point. Today, if thousands and thousands of Czech boys and girls can continue to attend their Czech schools and prepare in peace for their future careers, or not. We do not need martyrs from you, we need good and conscientious students and students from you. The authorities of Risa, as has happened more often in similar cases, have been watching these students' meetings in detail for a long time and have known about it long ago. Only these days have they decided to intervene. The Czech Protector told me these days that the patience of the German authorities is exhausted and that he is prepared for the punishment of permanent closure of all Czech secondary and higher professional schools in Bohemia and Moravia. Remember clearly the seriousness of this moment; consider what the loss of all the middle and higher vocational schools would mean to our nation today. You certainly did not imagine such a result of your actions. 003558 aaya
