Prague, March 13, 1940. Report. Betr.: Japanese Consulate General in Frag. Kiuchi Joschitane, the successor of the Japanese Consul General in Prague, is the extremely German-friendly consul General Kozo I t i g é . His attitude is already taken from the statement on the incidents on March 28, 1940. On 25 October 1939, he stated that in his view the demonstrations were organized and that it was necessary to try to make the centres of this insurrection harmless. Kozo Itigé was received by the Minister of the Reich Frh. von Ribbentrop in Berlin on the 25th of March 1939. The purpose of his trip to Berlin was to report to the Minister for Foreign Affairs on his work in the mission. The Japanese Consul General considers, by the way, that German foreign propaganda is not sufficiently tuned to the mentality of hostile or neutral foreign countries. Kozo Itigé is also a great supporter of German culture and German institutions in his private life. He is thus an accurate expert on German settlement and occupation rights and has recently enrolled here in Prague at the German Technical University. He also organized a Japanese evening, inspired by the editor Couden-hove-Kalergi, who also works at the Japanese Consulate General, to which he invited many students, especially those who conduct Japanese language studies. On this occasion he also showed his fine knowledge of Japanese art and it became known that he has the reputation of a first-class poet in his home country.
