84 O Interview ( Mr Rudl Representative of Reuterbueros in Prague ) Fragar "Are you confident, Mr. State Secretary, that in the run of the time there will be a tremendous cooperation between Germans and Czechs? You know that here and abroad, in particular, there are former party politicians at work who do not accept the present state of affairs. Do these elements pose a danger?" Answer: "I can assure you that I am quite opti- mistic and that a successful cooperation between the two peoples is not only essential but also achievable more quickly than is generally accepted by the circles of foreign countries which have no interest in such an understanding. They may be convinced that our entire work is motivated by the firm will to secure a happy future for both peoples. The Czech people are happy to finally have rest in the last twenty years after the illusion politics of their former power, which the broad masses have long recognized. The people, who in the past two decades were burdened by an oversized state apparatus and could not come to self-contemplation at all, are basically happy today to be freed from this burden. However, there are still forces at work that aeeh did not realize that their political role has been played out and therefore keep trying to sow dissatisfaction and discontent. Since we know these people very well, especially they are well informed about their connections to Czech emigration, it is no problem to deal with these attempts to disrupt political illusionists. Also the last shadows of this haunting should disappear very soon.
