134 Absehrift! The Head of the Special Department of Cultural Policy Prague, April 15, 1943. W/M Confidential! Vernerk: Betr.: Kurzwellenaktion. I visited Folte in Brno on 13.4.43 and personally explained to him the meaning of the shortwave action and the need for exact implementation. Pg. Folta explained that he had to fight against an indignation of his political leaders. Gauleiter Dr. Jury would hardly have agreed to the action after his indigeration if he had previously been supported by his subordinate party departments about the possible negative effects. He had probably been informed unilaterally by a speaker from the party liaison office in Prague and had not had the opportunity, because of his overburdening, to examine the matter further before taking a decision. I replied that he/she could not assume that Gauleiter Dr.Jury had agreed to the action without full consideration. Moreover, the matter had not been brought to Gauleider Dr.jury by a referendum of the party-related satellite but by State Secretary Frank himself. Folta remarked that then the state secretary Frank had presented the matter only unilaterally. I have rejected this and have noticed that Secretary of State Frank was convinced of the need to involve the German population in the action and is still there. I could only ask, after the situation, whose difficulty I foresaw and did not hide from the authorities involved, for circuit leader Folta to do everything possible to ensure the smooth running of the party's action, according to the instructions given by Gauleiter Dr.Jury.
