VIII/3 L - 566/43 Prague, 16 December 1943. 16 OYDEZOU3 The representative of the Mayor of Karlovy Vary today asked telefonically for the supply of heavy goods vehicles for the coal industry in Karlovie Vary. The Czech workers working in Karlevy Vyrs had informed that a larger number of trucks and train horses were available in the Protectorate without any difficulty. The coal merchants of Karlovy Vary therefore intended to go to Pilsen and other places of the Protectorate to buy Lkv and horses. I briefly informed the mayor's representative about the transport situation in Bohemia and Moravia and told him that it was not possible to supply trucks and horses to them. I have told him that perhaps the Czech workers who have spread the false rumor would like to receive from their employer (probably coal merchants) the order to try to buy motor vehicles in the Protectorate. The Czech workers would have achieved in this way to be with their families for weeks. The mayor's representative asked whether it would be a good idea for the mayor of Karlovy Vary to send a personal request to K.H. Frank for the release of cars. I strongly advised him not to do so.
