- 3 - S By the way, the article published in the "Vybêr" and translated from the German revue "Will and Power" was proof to many Czechs that the hardship of Germany is too great and that this is confirmed by the Germans themselves. II. The Germans have suffered tremendously because of this hardship, said a former Czech general, and this was confirmed and spread by many others, although cautiously. 1. Especially at the beginning there were allegedly many errors, such as the fact that many students were shot, who were put in favour of the Reich. As proof, the Doz.Dr.Matoußek is mentioned. The Germans say that many Czechs are innocent, because no amnesty has been issued regarding the holding of weapons, and then, if someone happens to find any weapon in old trouble, he is afraid to hand it over, and if he does not deliver it, a severe punishment awaits him. Then it is pointed out that so many people were affected by the German hardship, that today there is almost no family that would not be affected in the close circle of relatives. 2. Many think that the Germans proceed exactly as the Bolshewiken, that there is no difference between them. And so speaks the working class in particular, while the intelligence realizes that the English would not do something like this, because they do not know such manners at all. III. There was no mention at all of any appropriateness in the German criminal justice. Only a very insignificant percentage of people realizes that this is correct and that everyone is in debt; finally, one refers to Mussolini, who acted in glacée gloves, who imposes benevolent prison sentences for several years and who was finally arrested himself. In the war there must simply be this hardship, because nobody is afraid of the prison sentence. 2. A well-known and authoritative Czech finally makes a difference between the actions before the assassination of the Reich Protector and after the assassination. The acts before the assassination are not to be punished so severely, because for them is the excuse that the harshness of the law has not yet been valid. Of course, for the acts after the assassination one can no longer expect mercy.Close- - 4 -
