COPIA Prague, 13 March 1941/XIX. PERSONAL Very revered Mr. Gies, -5. IV. 1941 The Italian state hearer MARcHTONr'Primo lives in Pilsen, is blind and has always provided for himself and his family by running a small sugar- and ice-cream shop in the Smetana Promenade N.6. In recent times, however, he was assigned only 28 kg of flour to manage the sugar bakery, which recently seemed to have been reduced, which is absolutely inexhaustible - to secure his livelihood. He now writes to me that ilm was told by the Czech and German authorities to whom he had turned that nothing could be done for him because he was a foreigner. I would be very pleased if it were possible to find a means to protect the blind Italian Marchioni from the misery. This would perhaps be possible if the Oberlandrat in Pilsen were to use for him and to examine the possibility to allow the Marchioni, instead of bare 28 kg, to have some meter centimetres of flour and to authorize him to also pour coffee substitutes and beer in his shop.
