Copy. X S 658/42. Prague. on 6 February 1942. Your Excellency, Deputy Reich Protector! For your letter of 4 February 1942, R.Pr. No. 489/42,in the matter of the Czech Samalung of winter cases for the front, I ask my sincere thanks. The praise that Your Excellency of the willingness and the sacrificial spirit of our simple and working people gives me with no small joy and satisfaction. I very much agree that your writing will be made public and used in a journalistic way, as I promise to have a very beneficial effect on the mood of the population of your Excellency. In my opinion, this effect could not be done, on the contrary, it could not support them if the Czech public were not deprived of the numerical result of the collection. In absolute terms, it is undoubtedly a reputable contribution which is capable of helping to alleviate the difficulties faced by the troops on the eastern front. As I assume, the negative result compared to the results of the German collection may also be partly due to the fact that the Czech organizational council available for such purposes is not yet quite on the level and with which, despite good will, German leaders were certainly unable to keep up in any way. With the insurance of my excellent respect Dr. E. Hácha e.h. President.
